Illicit liquor kills four in Muktsar

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">GURI SANGAR, Muktsar: Four residents of this village reportedly died after consuming illicit liquor while the condition of the fifth is serious.<br /><br />It is suspected that the liquor contained some poisonous substance. The health authorities have sent the sample of the liquor for chemical examination at Patiala.The deceased include Manga Singh (37), Jit Singh (40) Sawaran Singh (49) and Major Singh.<br /><br />It is reported that all the five started drinking home made illicit liquor around 8.30 PM on Tuesday in the house of one of the deceased Major Singh. After consuming 2-3 pegs all started vomiting and returned to their homes. <br /><br />When their condition deteriorated they were taken to different hospitals at Giddarbaha and Muktsar. While four died by 5 pm on Wednesday the fifth Makhan Singh is struggling for life in a private hospital at Muktsar.<br /><br />The matter was brought to the notice of the district administration and additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Ajaib Singh Bhatti and superintendent of police, detective (SP-D) along with some other civil and police officer visited the village.
